Savouring Somerset- Beer Festival Birthday Apr 21, 2010 ( in News )

It’s Milk Street Brewery’s 11th birthday the first weekend of May, and in joint celebration of this and Frome coming up trumps in the Taste of Somerset Awards 2010, we are having a big party!  A beer festival: Savouring Somerset will be bringing the best beers from around 20 different independent breweries in Somerset to the Griffin.  These will include real ales from Abbey Ales, Cotleigh Brewery, RCH Brewery and many more, and will be available on the bar between Friday 30th and Monday 3rd May.  And of course, there’s no way we could celebrate without some great music.  Here’s the line-up:

Friday 30th Apr:

Bugs and the Collaborators. Probably the only left-handed band in Frome, Bugs and the Collaborators perform their own blend of original songs on vintage instruments, switching between acoustic and electric guitars. A year in the making, they are taking their new album ‘A Contradiction in Sound’ on the (Selwood) road to the masses, delivering a sound bigger than their 3 parts should muster.

Saturday 1st May:

The Wheel Of Four Tunes.  Foolishly or not, we welcome back the Power Ranger lunatics Toby Spin and MC Tippercool with their ridiculous wheel and smoke machine plus a whole bag of jiggery pokery and great tunes.  Spin the wheel…. Where WILL it land??  Best of all, they’ll be carrying on the madness till 1am, woo woo!  Come dressed as your favourite sci-fi character or superhero and you’ll be in for treats.

Sunday 2nd May:

Juey @ Sausage Sunday.  Sometimes the gentlest and most subtle music can be more inspiring than anything else.  Juey is no exception: her magical voice drifts gently over lovingly played guitar lines that melt the ears.  Having played in support of Blind River Scare, Juey will be taking centre stage at our Sausage Sunday birthday special.

Monday 3rd May:

Birthday Quiz with Quizmaster James.  A special alcohol-themed birthday quiz from the amazing Griffin Quizmaster.  If you’ve been to our quizzes before, you’ll know to get there early if you want a quiz.  Kick off at 8pm.
